Corvias Provides Major Renovations to Homes at Fort Sill

East Greenwich, RI (July 28, 2020) - Corvias, a long-term solutions and management partner to the U.S. military, started the first stage of major renovations in the neighborhoods of White Wolf and Geronimo Acres at Fort Sill.  Built by the Army and now managed by Corvias, renovations began in June. A mixture of single-family, duplex and townhouses, the houses are the first on the installation to receive in-home fire suppression systems and feature storm shelters for severe weather.

All configurations will receive interior updates to make them more contemporary and in line with Corvias’ current home standards. This will include new paint, fixtures and flooring. In the townhouses, a primary suite will be created to change the layout from a three-bedroom, one-bathroom configuration to a two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout.

“Across Fort Sill, Corvias has worked to refresh the existing houses to reflect the design standards of today while, with the exception of the townhouses, maintaining their layout and features,” said Chuck Cavaretta, vice president of construction, Corvias. “The houses in White Wolf and Geronimo Acres are the last on the installation to be renovated and will receive energy efficient upgrades, modern touches and safety improvements throughout as part of our effort to modernize our portfolio of military housing.”

This renovation project is part of Corvias’ $325 million capital investment into its Army housing installations. Corvias is partnering with local small businesses and nearly 80 percent of the subcontractors on this project will be from within a 100-mile radius of Fort Sill.

Originally built in the 1950s through the 1970s, the completed homes will feature a variety of updates including:

  • Repairs to concrete steps and front porches
  • Energy efficient systems, appliances and a new fire suppression system
  • Replacing all kitchen cabinets, countertops and plumbing fixtures
  • New lighting and ceiling fans in the family room and master bedroom
  • Upgraded cabinets, tile and plumbing fixtures in bathrooms
  • Refreshed paint color throughout the house

Corvias oversees the management of the more than 1,800 homes at Fort Sill as part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative. Since the partnership began in 2008, Corvias instituted 24-hour emergency maintenance, a curbside-recycling program, developed a free recreational vehicle storage lot, improved playgrounds and parks, and initiated free resident events. Corvias places a priority on incorporating green infrastructure and sustainability standards into projects. This includes water-efficiency measures, low-water landscaping, Energy Star appliances and high-efficiency HVAC equipment.
