Lisa Medina is an Army wife, mother of four, influencer, and lifestyle blogger specializing in decorating homes on a budget. In the first installment of the series, Lisa shared how to love where you live by creating a welcoming front porch. In Lisa’s 13 years of living in military housing, she has decorated many different homes with different front porches, including the nearly nonexistent porch. Through the years, she learned that even the most minor touches could make a difference. Here are four tips for creating a front porch you’ll enjoy:
- Start Fresh – clean flower beds, walkways, and furniture.
- Layer – add an outdoor rug under your welcome mat.
- Plants – bring life to your porch with real and faux plants.
- Hang a wreath, flag, or welcome sign you’ll love seeing first.

The “Love Where You Live” series, which began on July 2, 2021 continues through the end of the year with new content every Friday.
